Beyond the Layoff: Rebuild Your Confidence, Wellbeing, and Career
What happens after a layoff, beyond finding the next job?
Losing a job can affect much more than your career. It can shake your confidence, your sense of identity, your wellbeing, and even the way you see your future.
In this recording, Mena Eissa and Anna Reger explore what can happen emotionally after a layoff or career transition, and why moving forward isn't always as simple as finding the next opportunity.
What We Explore
In this conversation, we talk about:
Why a layoff can feel like a loss of identity, not just a loss of income or a job
The hidden losses that can come with leaving a role
Why we often reach for practical solutions before we've had space to process what happened
What happens to confidence when your professional identity suddenly changes
The pressure to “get back on track” and why you may not feel ready
How to begin reconnecting with yourself beyond your job title
Practical ways to start moving forward with more clarity and intention
Anna also shares her personal experience of being laid off and introduces the Self-Exposure practice, while Mena looks at the emotional and identity side of career transitions.
